When I think about how much money I owe people from my business blowout I honestly want to vomit.

I know that Suzie Ormon would disagree, but being "related" to my financial situation is a little more than I can honestly bear.  The ballpark figure is "good enough" for me.

I've given all the horrifying details to my accountant who has been counseled not to rub my face in the mess or he is FIRED.

Now it's time to get to work, and I have a feeling I won't be whistling as I do so anytime soon.

I once went to see a psychic who told me that I would have great financial success one day, and she has been summarily dismissed.

I'm taking inventory, reinventing myself... manifesting abundance.

Misery loves company so...you know where to find me.

Rediscovering Community

In the wake of our national economic decline, and the loss of so many jobs that once seemed so secure it was something taken for granted. It seems that many people are rediscovering what really matters in life.

Many people are finding that the cure to the fear and uncertainty is reaching out, becoming involved in making a difference, and becoming a contribution in their neighborhoods, cities and towns. It's the perfect time to entertain a new measuring stick for what's important. I loved this article on CNN.

Letters for Change in Support of Obama

In an email written to me from my girlfriend Ariana who is always in the KNOW......

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the mass mailing, but time is of the essence...

A small group of us, hopefully growing vast and strong as I write this,
decided just this week it was time to do something to help the outcome of
the upcoming election.

We have decided to create a campaign of sorts, on behalf of Obama, and what
he stands for.

To make this happen, we need to include the real people of this nation that
the Republicans are claiming to have in their back pocket...for we want to
show this nation and the world that real people stand for Obama, and for
change, as well.

There's more information below--but the basics are: we are creating a
website called Spellingchange.com. The site will be a simple information
hub, but mainly a place where you can go to get yours, and Obama's messages
out in a unique way.  We will have the letters of the alphabet, designed by
artists, designers, aspiring, or anyone who wants to be involved, that can
then be used to create messages for postcards and t-shirts.

We need all the help we can get--so if you're interested in helping in any
capacity--even if you don't see yourself designing a letter, this involves a
lot more than that...from needing to work out logistics, to tshirts, to
paper, to coordinators, to photographers, etc...

So, if you're interested in becoming one of this small group of people
dedicated to spelling change--please let me know!  There's more information
below and the specs for designing a letter attached...

REQUEST FOR LETTERS

Time and again, Republicans have fanned the flames of the culture wars to
distract attention from their own failed policies. This election, they’re
trying to anoint themselves as the party of “real” Americans by accusing
Barack Obama of being elite, out of touch, and representative of only a tiny
sliver of the population. If they can successfully define Obama as the
candidate of college students and coffee shop liberals, he will lose. And if
he loses, we lose. Big.

To combat this false perception, a group of us are
launching the “Spelling Change” campaign to represent the true breadth and
depth of Obama’s support, and we need your help. The challenge is simple:
show us how you spell change. We’re asking all our artist and designer
friends to reinterpret one letter of the alphabet in a way that represents
what Obama’s candidacy means to them (specs and instructions are below).
These letters will then be printed on t-shirts that Obama supporters from
all walks of life will be photographed in, creating a living alphabet

The campaign will be anchored by a website where visitors can drag and drop
the letters to create their own t-shirts and e-cards, upload their own
letters and photos, and learn about Obama’s positions linked to each letter
(“E” for “Education,” etc.). Web banners and wild postings, as well as an
aggressive PR rollout, will drive awareness and traffic. More details to
come on this phase — we’re figuring it out as we go.

Before anyone else mentions it: yes, we recognize the irony of a campaign
created by a bunch of coffee shop liberals trying to prove that Obama’s
supporters are more than just coffee shop liberals. But we’re “real”
Americans, too. And we know that we’re just the tip of the iceberg. Please
help us show the true range of Barack Obama’s appeal and bring authentic
change to Washington.

Dear Planet Earth

As a parent of two small children I realize that I have got to set an example for my children, as well as be the change that needs to happen in the world if we are to combat the effects of global warming and climate change.  In my work over the past five years I have engaged thousands of parents in conversations about what each of us can do to make a difference and impact the future.

I started by creating a lifestyle brand called Little Bits (www.littlebits.com) not because I wanted to promote consumerism and all of it's trappings but because it seemed the most effective way to start to introduce parents and children to products created by designers and manufacturers who were also making a difference in some way. My goal was to show them that they could be Eco-friendly without sacrificing style, and four years later we have built an award winning national brand and an ecommerce site and two retail store locations.  In fact it was the retail locations and the interactions with parents everyday which taught me the following:

• when we started out, 99% of our customers were completely unaware we had a climate problem.
• now almost four years later despite the fact that we see the doom and gloom on the cover of every major magazine and in the news, our global population is still shockingly oblivious to how important it is that they take action and make some lifestyle changes.
• although a huge percentage of my customers now agree that there is a huge problem- most would admit that they are paralyzed in the face of it, and have been asking for some tangible tips and resources that give them digestible information they can incorporate into their hectic lives.

I have started The Earth Savers blog as a resource for my customers as well as for parents, and individuals everywhere to start getting some information that they need and want.

I invite any and all to participate in any of the topics, discussions, and insights that are shared here.

As Parents we look to each other for advice, and due to the fact that our own lives are so filled with the daily velocity that is parenting, It seems reasonable to assume that we need to learn how to make a difference in sound bites, and take small steps toward progress so that we can contribute our collective thoughts and ideas to the proliferation of your gifts and the conservation of your life sustaining resources.

I know you have been patient with us dear planet, and I can only hope that through the spirit of love for our children and yours, that you will benefit from a forum of  like minded individuals who also want to inspire change, make a difference, and preserve the bounty you've provided for our generation, and the generations to come.
